More US Weapons Arrive in Israel

America wake up stop arming these lunatics!

As US arms shipment reaches Israel, President Obama urged to halt further exports

The new delivery to Israel of a massive consignment of US munitions, revealed by Amnesty International today, throws into question whether President Obama will act to prevent the US fuelling further Israeli attacks against civilians that may amount to war crimes, as were perpetrated in Gaza.

According to new information received by Amnesty International, the Wehr Elbe, a German cargo ship which had been chartered and controlled by US Military Sealift Command, docked and unloaded its cargo of reportedly over 300 containers at the Israeli port of Ashdod, just 40 km north of Gaza by road. The German ship left the USA for Israel on 20 December, one week before the start of Israeli attacks on Gaza, carrying 989 containers of munitions, each of them 20 feet long with a total estimated net weight of 14,000 tons.

“Legally and morally, this US arms shipment should have been halted by the Obama administration given the extent of the evidence showing how military equipment and munitions of this kind were recently used by the Israeli forces for war crimes,” said Brian Wood. “Arms supplies in these circumstances are contrary to provisions in US law.”

Asked about the Wehr Elbe, a Pentagon spokesperson confirmed to Amnesty International that “the unloading of the entire USmunitions shipment was successfully completed at Ashdod[Israel] on 22 March”.

AIPAC in Big Trouble~”Spy Gate”

Wow, this is SO important. Members of AIPAC were meant to stand trial under the 1917 Espionage Act, One has already been convicted. However, this trial has been postponed for an extended length of time, AND they are attempting to have the trial done in secret, or be dropped even. This is amazing. America needs to wake up to the spies among them who are controlling your elected politicians and the Whitehouse (Witness Charles Freeman!!) Read this little gem below and then read my In Depth report on Israel’s use of “fear tactics” to garner support for war on Iran.

WASHINGTON, March 25, 2009 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ —-The Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, Inc. (IRmep) urges the Department of Justice to proceed with its long delayed prosecution of former AIPAC employees Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman. Colonel Lawrence Franklin, a co-conspirator indicted in 2005 for allegedly passing classified information in violation of the 1917 Espionage Act, has already been convicted. Growing special interest calls for dismissing charges against the former AIPAC employees strongly resemble previous demands for special treatment under the law.

And just who would those “special interest groups” be? One wonders, does one not? Translation other Jewish lobby groups and those who work for/with them! I cannot belive they expect to commit crimes in America, crimes AGAINST America, and then expect to be set free with NO trial?? This is the mentality of Israel, they think they are above the law!

In 2008 the release of formerly secret internal Department of Justice documents revealed that the DOJ ordered AIPAC’s parent organization to register as the foreign agent of an Israeli principal in 1962. After three years of behind the scenes pressure and lobbying the DOJ acquiesced to pressure that the foreign agent registration be heavily redacted and filed in secret, an unprecedented exception in the history of public Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA: undefined, undefined, undefined%) filings. The 1938 FARA protects American citizens and Congress from foreign funded stealth lobbying.

Hello America?? Reality calling Americans here! read that sentance once again “FARA protects American citizens and Congress from foreign funded stealth lobbying” and Israel’s agents were caught and want off with no trial??

Shutting down the current US v Rosen and Weissman case before it goes to trial would similarly short circuit rule of law in the United States. Only a public trial can reveal whether AIPAC lobbyists crossed a red line in their advocacy activities. An open trial may reveal whether there was an effort to leverage classified information into US military action against Iran, or whether mainstream media and the public are manipulated by lobbyists selectively trafficking secrets.

See? It’s all about making America attack Iran. Read my entry about this HERE for examples of them using fear tactics to garner support to attack Iran. Now we see AIPAC involved as well.

Quietly folding this prosecution would promote a growing perception across America that some organizations and individuals are free to break the law with impunity, at great cost to law abiding citizens.” said IRmep Director Grant F. Smith. “Based upon the alleged activities raised by the indictment our supporters from 37 states urge the Department of Justice to proceed to trial. Doing otherwise could have grave consequences for governance in America.”

Reporters seeking background about the current AIPAC espionage case or the 1962 foreign agent registration episode may consult case files online at http://www.irmep.org/ila.

And I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND any Americans get your arse over to this site and read up on this. After all, it’s your county these people are attempting to control and circumvent your justice system whilst they spy on you!

UPDATED~ Yup, I’m right, it is other Jewish groups pressing for America to let the Israeli spies go free. See here

AJC, ADL urge AIPAC prosecution to reconsider
March 26, 2009

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Two top Jewish groups are urging the Justice Department to reconsider its prosecution of former AIPAC staffers Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman

Please America, stop these people for everyone’s sake!!

Strong Message to Israel

EU urges new Israeli government to accept Palestinian state. However, unless US foreign policy towards Israel changes, little can be done to sway Israel into behaving itself and allowing a Palestinian state. As always, it is the US that holds any control over Israel as they provide billions of dollars to Israel and unless that is placed on the line, we may not see any movement from Zionist Israeli Government. Additionally, the US must re-take control of American Policy from AIPAC and the Israeli Lobby groups that now control congress, the senate and even Obama (witness the smear campaign on Freeman!) So, America has some work to do!

The European Union on Friday told Israel’s incoming new government that there would be “consequences” if it does not accept the principle of a Palestinian state.

“Relations would become very difficult indeed,” said Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency.

“At one of our next ministerial meetings we would have to discuss what consequences the EU would draw from that,”

One thing that could be jeopardised would be an idea to formally upgrade EU-Israeli ties.

Several other EU foreign ministers judged that an Israeli government which does not accept a two-sate solution would not be acceptable itself.

“We Europeans believe that the putting in place of a two-state solution remains the plan,” said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

“The foreign ministers must send a clear message saying that if this is not the case, the EU cannot accept it,” added Luxembourg’s Jean Asselborn.

Last year the EU decided to enhance ties with Israel but the idea has been a dead letter since the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip earlier this year.

The Europeans are the biggest donors of aid to the Palestinians but they hold little sway over Israel, which is backed firmly by the United States.

AIPAC Asks for 30 BILLION for Israel~HEADS UP AMERICAN TAXPAYERS

AIPAC head testifies on Israel aid
By Eric Fingerhut · March 27, 2009

WASHINGTON (JTA) — The head of a pro-Israel lobby group testified on Capitol Hill about the importance of U.S. aid to Israel.

Howard Kohr, executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, told the House Appropriations Foreign Operations subcommittee that “American assistance to Israel serves vital U.S. national security interests and advances critical U.S. foriegn policy goals.”

(Yeah right, Only in “Bizarro Land” does giving hard earned American taxpayer dollars to Israel really help America. Tell that to AMERICANS who are loosing their homes and jobs! Actually it destroys America at home and Americas standing worldwide. Go beg elsewhere, you are ruining America with your control and support for a foreign country while expecting Americans to fund it with their money while you murder and commit genocide.)

He requested that Israel receive $2.775 billion in military aid in fiscal year 2010, as called for in the 2007 Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. and Israel that allocates $30 billion in aid for the Jewish state over 10 years.

(America needs to close its wallet, America is in financial crisis and Israel wants 30 billion???? I say that money would be better spent helping the actual Americans who EARNED it, helping them keep their homes and stay afloat, or for job training. Rather than handing 30 BILLION over to a foreign country!!)

2nd UPDATE on Sudanese Attack

Oh what a slippery slope Obama is now on. This Sudanese attack has US cooperation and Intelligence assistance written all over it IMHO. It would appear that Israel is now going to be attacking and invading any country where it deems anything suspicious, and with the approval (or assistance) of the US government.

On January 19th 2009 an MOU (memorandum of understanding) was signed between the US government and Israel to “work together” in keeping anyone from replenishing arms to Hamas. (Like every time Israel invades, Hamas doesn’t have the right to defend itself, its people and it’s country from an invader? Only Israel gets to defend itself as we have seen and continue to see) But, there you go. At any rate, the Israeli fighter jets would have had to fly a great distance and possibly through other countries air space, additionally needing a mid air re-fuelling to complete the mission.

It seems like Obama is going to not only keep, but honour, the agreements Bush made with Israel, so much for “change” and “hope” This means the US will support Israeli attacks into other countries, and possibly assist in those attacks. As if the US does not have enough problems already. Israel is pushing America towards war with Iran and has been for 3 years now. The slippery slope begins.

From the Globe and Mail:

“Whoever did this was operating with pretty hard intelligence,” said Mark Heller, principal research associate of the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University.

“The strike itself would have required satellite guidance or cameras on the missiles,” Mr. Heller said. “There are only two air forces that could have carried it out: the U.S. and Israeli.”

The United States has strongly denied carrying out any such attack.
“The U.S. military has not conducted any air strikes, fired any missiles or undertaken any combat operations in or around Sudan since the U.S. Africa Command formally began operations Oct. 1” said Vince Crawley, a spokesman for the command.

Such a trip would have required at least one in-air refuelling, Mr. Heller said.

“Until now, our priorities have been along the Gaza-Sinai frontier,” the (Israeli) official said. “While efforts there are continuing, we also have to ask ourselves: Is it possible to be more pro-active in intercepting weapons before they arrive at the frontier?

“That’s why we signed an MOU with [former U.S.] secretary of state [Condoleezza] Rice, to intercept weapons shipments,” he said.

The memorandum of understanding, signed Jan. 16 in Washington by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, calls for the United States and its partners to work together to address the problem of the supply of arms to Hamas and other militant forces in Gaza. It lists the areas where such arms shipments may occur as “the Mediterranean, Gulf of Aden, Red Sea and Eastern Africa.” Sudan is an Eastern African country.

White Phosphorus~Small Town America

Following up on the White Phosphorus post I made yesterday. Hat Tip to Rock the Qasbah they have a video of an interview done in the small town in America where the weapons were made. Many of the residents were unaware and horrified.

Workers in a small town in the United States learn that the munitions they produce (particularly white phosphurus) have led to hundreds of brutal fatalities and massive disfigurements amongst the civilian population that it was used against.

Charles Freeman~redux~Israeli Lobby USA

“Freeman became sort of a martyr,” argued Ian Lustick, political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania. “The lobby might have won, but they paid a price.”

Chas Freeman Redux, from Haaretz, more information on the Freeman dirty dealings by the Israeli Lobbyists in the USA.

‘The pro-Israel lobby is alive and well, and bipartisan’

Indeed, with Freeman departing under pressure, pro-Israel activists succeeded in drawing a line in the sand and sending a strong signal to the Obama administration about what is acceptable in Middle East policy.

But critics, interestingly, are celebrating the bright light the Freeman issue shone on their own questioning of American policy toward Israel and on their claims that the pro-Israel lobby routinely uses its clout to ensure that dissenters gain no foothold. They say their attempt to discuss the Israel lobby issue won a legitimacy it never had before.

“Freeman became sort of a martyr,” argued Ian Lustick, political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania. “The lobby might have won, but they paid a price.”

The eruption of public debate over the role of pro-Israel activists in shaping American policy toward the Middle East comes nearly three years after two leading scholars, Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, published their article about the Israel lobby, which later turned into a book, “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy.”

And the outcome of the episode indicates that strong critics of Israel may be cut off from government positions of real influence. Several incidents in recent years also suggest that untenured faculty at some colleges may want to consider their career prospects before speaking out too boldly.

Mearsheimer sees the situation as nuanced. “The Freeman issue had a significant influence on how people think; it had some influence on the discourse – and almost none on how policy is made,” he told the Forward.
Mearsheimer praised the Internet as the main force promoting a new sense of openness on this issue. He condemned the mainstream media as “hopeless.”

“We made our representation to members of Congress and to people in the administration,” said Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. “Sometimes we talk publicly and sometimes privately.”

They argue instead that some also seek to stifle or penalize those who speak out on the other side. And they insist that the success of the pro-Israel lobby in influencing American policy – though pursued legitimately – has harmed American interests.

AIPAC’s former director of foreign policy, Steve Rosen, who used his blog to lead the fight against Freeman?s appointment, saw it differently. Rosen, who once famously described the lobby as a night flower that “thrives in the dark and dies in the sun,” made clear that the public exposure did not serve the pro-Israel lobby?s interests.

“I’m sure AIPAC was happy when Freeman withdrew, but they might also be worried by the high profile of the Freeman issue,” he said.

Tobin, speaking at a March 15 panel discussion at Queens College, said the lobby?s show of force made clear that Obama will not “fall on his sword” to defend appointees perceived as anti-Israel. He said it also suggested that Obama would not spend political capital on fighting with incoming Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Walt agreed. “The worst aspect of the Freeman affair is the likelihood of a chilling effect on discourse in Washington, at precisely the time when we badly need a more open and wide-ranging discussion of our Middle East policy,” he blogged at foreignpolicy.com.

Critics respond that through their donations to congressional campaigns, organized Jewish contributors and a network of pro-Israel political action committees do much to help shape that will.

It was clear that Freeman had few friends in Congress. The anti-Freeman push came from some of Israel?s strongest supporters. Democratic New York Senator Charles Schumer personally lobbied White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who is also a strong backer of Israel. After Freeman withdrew his nomination, Schumer stated publicly that he “repeatedly urged the White House to reject him” because Freeman?s views on Israel were “way over the top.”

Several other strong supporters of Israel took action on this issue, including Democratic Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman and two congressmen – Democrat Steve Israel of New York, and Republican Mark Kirk of Illinois.

Washington Post columnist and staunch centrist David Broder deplored the influence of the Israel lobby in this case. He fingered Congress as the critical force that compelled Freeman?s departure. The foreign policy analyst, who speaks Mandarin Chinese and Arabic, was set to ride out the storm when Broder met him for breakfast the day he left. “But after another visit to members of Congress, Freeman was gone,” Broder reported.

In his wake, advocates on both sides of the debate about the lobby agree that public discourse is now more receptive to ideas challenging the lobby?s positions. But despite the lively debate in the blogosphere and in the press, the political echelons are untouched by this trend.

“I don’t see it happening in the near future,” Lustick said. “The last people to change are the politicians.”
