UN Says “Anti-Zionism NOT Anti-Semitism”

Anti-Zionism Is Not Anti-Semitism, Stipulates UN Organization, EAFORD

THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR THE ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION (EAFORD)

Item 7. Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories

To expose Israel’s human rights abuses and attacks on Gaza is not anti-Jewish; criticism based on mountains of reports of human rights violations are not directed at Jews anywhere, but at the policies of the State of Israel.

The international community can and should abhor the slaughter of Palestinian women and children without being labeled anti-Semitic.

Zionism is a political movement, not a religion; it is a colonialist, racist, ideology of conquest, oppression, subjugation and control.

Zionism is Israel’s official ideology and to oppose the discriminatory policies of this apartheid state is not racist. Israel is one thing, Judaism another: to confront one is not to be in opposition of the other, they are separate.

Jews can be anti-Zionists, and anti-Semites can be staunch Zionists. Some of the most adamant supporters of Zionist ideology are not Jews, but some fundamentalist Christians. This agenda item does not report on a religion but on a State’s discriminatory policies towards a people who are Semitic too!

Occupation is not about religion: It is a nation’s policy of aggression; its use of disproportionate force, and collective punishment.

When the atrocities committed on the people of Palestine are condemned, Zionists call it anti-Semitism, which is a concocted myth. It is simply a ploy to “dismiss all criticism, no matter how legitimate, as rooted in prejudice and therefore without any validity.” (Cohen)

Equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism poisons any resolution; let it not deter us from our pursuit, the real goal which must prevail: truth and justice.

Thank you Mr. President.

Gaza Doctor Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

NOMINATED: Dr. Abu al-Aish, who lost three daughters when Israel murdered them while he was on the phone doing an interview with an Isareli news program!! I remember watching this on television, in utter shock and disbelief. I cried for hours, then days. What I will never forget as long as I live, was the outrageous Israeli’s who came down during the interview and shouted at this poor man “What were you hiding in your house” and “The army had a reason to shoot at your house” and many more disgusting insults. Not one of them, not one single one of them, could have the decency to leave the man alone after having just lost so many of his children, or even for one second entertain the thought that they were innocent!! No, Israeli’s have no compassion, all Palestinians are terrorists, all deserve to die, this is exactly why the IDF had those t-shirts made. Israel is a rogue state filled with racists and murderers, no human beings live there any more, only serial killers of Palestinians. I Hope he wins the Nobel Peace Prize, but what I really hope is that some BRAVE Hollywood director has the balls to make a big production movie about this man’s life and what happened to him, So that all of America can see how evil Israel is. Anyone brave enough? I wonder!

Gazan doctor nominated for Nobel

Dr. Abu al-Aish, who lost three daughters to fighting in Gaza, receives news of candidacy for peace prize. ‘This prize will make my tragedy into something positive,’ he says

Dr. Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish, a Gazan doctor who lost his three daughters to IDF fire during Israel’s offensive in the Strip, has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, Ynet learned Sunday

Abu al-Aish received a letter from the Nobel Committee officially declaring him a nominee for the prestigious award.

“I received the news at the end of a meeting with the president of the European parliament while I was visiting Belgium, where I was made an honorary citizen,” he said in a telephone conversation from Canada.

“I wouldn’t call my first response joy, personally it is not joyous, but it does encourage me to hope for the two people. This prize will make my tragedy into something positive for the human race. It is a victory for intelligence, a victory for hope for positive change for our two people.”

The doctor said he would dedicate the prize to the simple people on both sides, Israeli and Palestinian, in the event that he won.

Abu al-Aish, who works at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, said he had already received praise for his candidacy. “The first to call me was Minister Avishai Braverman. He congratulated me and said I represent us all,” he said.

The physician promised the nomination would not alter his way of life. “I will continue on my path. It may give me more responsibility but it won’t change my faith,” he said.

“Winning the prize will be a direct continuation of my activities in favor of a life of peace between two people… The fact that a simple man such as myself is nominated for such a prize only shows that nothing is impossible. The only impossible thing is my daughters’ return.”

When asked whether he might consider relinquishing medicine in order to enter politics Abu al-Aish said, “Where I find a way to change and help – that’s where I will be. I am willing to sacrifice my private time for this goal, but right now I want to save lives. Medicine brings people together, saves souls, and cures wounds, and this is what we need now.”

Whitewashing IDF Atmosphere of Brutality

Israeli military police have closed an investigation into soldiers’ accounts of abuses committed in Gaza, saying they were based on hearsay.

An Israeli military college published the accounts, which included claims that soldiers fired on civilians and vandalised property.

The probe concluded that the stories were “purposely exaggerated”.

“The climate in general… I don’t know how to describe it…. the lives of Palestinians, let’s say, are much, much less important than the lives of our soldiers,” an infantry squad leader was quoted saying in reports carried in Israeli newspapers.

While academy director Dany Zamir told public radio that “[the testimonies] conveyed an atmosphere in which one feels entitled to use unrestricted force against Palestinians”.

Testimonies, which were given by combat pilots and infantry soldiers, also included allegations of unnecessary destruction of Palestinian property.

“We would throw everything out of the windows to make room and order. Everything… refrigerators, plates, furniture. The order was to throw all of the house’s contents outside,” a soldier said.

Heavy civilian casualties during the three-week operation which ended in the blockaded coastal strip on 18 January have provoked an international outcry.

US Army Confirms Israeli Nukes

Great post from Palestinian Think Tank

US Army Confirms Israeli Nukes; Israeli Aid At Stake

The Army has let slip one of the worst-kept secrets in the world — that Israel has the bomb.

Officially, the United States has a policy of “ambiguity” regarding Israel’s nuclear capability. Essentially, it has played a game by which it neither acknowledges nor denies that Israel is a nuclear power.

Seymour Hersh published “The Samson Option,” detailing Israel’s strategy of massive nuclear retaliation against Arab states in the event it felt its very existence was threatened. Israel’s nuclear arsenal has been estimated to range from 200 to 400 warheads.

Yet Israel has refused to confirm or deny it’s nuclear capabilities, and the U.S. has gone along with the charade.

By law, the U.S. would have to cease providing billions of dollars in foreign aid to Israel if it determined the country had a nuclear weapons program. That’s because the so-called Symington Amendment, passed in 1976, bars assistance to countries developing technology for nuclear weapons proliferation

Oliphant Cartoon~False Anti-Semitism Fest

The following post is a MUST READ from Desertpeace

The following was written by my Associate, David Baldinger. As an artist he is most interested in this particular issue.

Oliphant Channels Robert Minor

Pat Oliphant, syndicated editorial cartoonist, created a cartoon the other day that has Zionists everywhere screaming their usual accusations of ‘anti-Semitism’. Bravo, Pat, for being one of the few main stream media cartoonists to make a critical statement about the Israeli government’s over kill in Gaza. Anyone who dares criticize Israel is automatically labeled an anti-Semite so the charge has little meaning any longer.

I am surprised that no one has picked up on Oliphant’s reference to the great early 20th Century Communist cartoonist, Robert Minor (1884 – 1952). The Oliphant headless soldier is obviously not ‘NAZI’ imagery but that of the mindless soldier that Robert Minor called, ‘the perfect soldier’. This soldier dates from World War 1 USA and not NAZI era Germany.

Those Evil Palestinian Children

Just what have those Evil Palestinian children been up to today?

Given this week’s revelation of the IDF t-shirts showing pregnant Palestinian women as targets with the caption “one shot-two kills” and the other t-shirt showing a Palestinian child as a terrorist. Well, those Evil Palestinian children that the IDF shoot and murder with impunity in Gaza are at it again. Proving the Israeli Government and IDF “hasbara” is just that, lies to create fear and thwart peace.

Palestinian children sing for Holocaust survivors

The Palestinian youths from a tough West Bank refugee camp stood facing the elderly Holocaust survivors on Wednesday, appearing somewhat defiant in a teenage sort of way. Then they began to sing.

The choir burst into songs for peace, bringing surprised smiles from the audience. But the event had another twist: Most of the Holocaust survivors did not know the youths were Palestinians from the West Bank, a rare sight in Israel these days. And the youths had no idea they were performing for people who lived through Nazi genocide – or even what the Holocaust was.

Most of the Palestinian youths had not seen an Israeli civilian before – only gun-toting soldiers in military uniforms manning checkpoints, conducting arrest raids of wanted Palestinians or during army operations.

Yeah, Im sure it’s some evil plan by Palestinians, Israelis “know” they are all evil and should be wiped out and hate jews. what do you want to bet this never makes headlines except in haaretz!

Israel Conducted Illegal Experiments on its Own Soldiers

The vast majority of Israelis and their government are quite simply the most paranoid people on this planet. I just can’t imagine what they must live like, in a constant state of “fake fear” that the rest of the world can clearly see, yet they either believe this perpetual paranoia their government has indoctrinated them with for years, or they believe they are the perpetual victim, or maybe it’s actually both. Either way, it’s no way to live, what a price to pay. At any rate, since the recent genocide in Gaza I have had many an argument with pro Israel Zionists, who continually claim the IDF is the perfect army, above board all the time, just like their government, their military have the best interests of Israel and its people at heart. Yet, what do we see? The Israeli army carried out experiments using an Anthrax vaccine on its soldiers without their permission; some are now un-well from this experimentation. This is what paranoia does, you justify anything to feed the paranoia you live with daily. The problem is it is never enough, you will never “feel” safe or never “be” safe. Not until Israel removes the politics of fear from it’s population and government and makes real peace with its neighbours. Not the answer Israel wants to hear, but it is the real answer to the fear factor. Story below on the Anthrax antidote experimentation found to be illegal.

Anthrax experiments on IDF soldiers were unjustified

Anthrax vaccine experiments conducted on Israel Defense Force soldiers in the early 1990s were unjustifiable, states a report, compiled by a panel estblished by the Israel Medical Association (IMA), and authorized for publication on Wednesday.

The experiment, nicknamed “Omer 2,” was held during the first part of the 1990s and included 716 IDF soldiers picked out of a pool of 4,000.

Following a three-month legal battle in Israel’s High Court of Justice, the report was finally approved for publication Wednesday.

The report insinuates that it was improper motivation that prompted the launch of the experiments, but it does not specify what these motivations were, saying that the panel “could not make out the true inspiration behind them.”

The report reveals that even while the experiment was taking place Israel already had a stock of vaccines, a fact which further raised the concern that the experiment wasn’t necessary that it was carried out as a result of external pressure.

It was the committee members impression, even though it was not expressed in the final report, that the person who was the driving force behind the experiment was Dr. Avigdor Shafferman, the director of the Nes Tziona Biological Institute and an anthrax specialist.

The report sees Dr. Shafferman’s refusal to appear before it as the reason for its inability to definitively answer those questions.

The committee’s report also severely criticizes the “shroud of secrecy” which the experiments’ directors implemented and asks whether “that secrecy was geared at hiding the tests from the Israeli public.”

So, the committee states, this “issue is of utmost importance since it raises questions as to the true motives behind the decision to keep the tests secret, including the fact that it was administered to soldiers, which may have not been necessary.”

The panel’s suspicions were further raised as a result of the fact that while the experiments were conducted on soldiers, their effectiveness or potential hazards were not tested on those sections of the population for which the vaccine was intended. “The selection of soldiers as testing subjects hindered the experiments’ declared purpose ? to examine the safety and efficacy of the vaccine in case of wide dissemination to a civilian population,” the report said.

The committee also found that the Medical Corps and the IDF did not follow the guidelines of the Helsinki Accords, which has been regulating the procedures of experiments on humans since 1975. According to the report, enlisting soldiers under direct military authority was improper and ran against the principles of the Helsinki Accords.

Israel and the IDF accepted the principles of the Helsinki Accords, declaring many times that they meet their standards. In reality, however, the report states that “the military Helsinki committee failed to fulfill its duties in ‘Omer 2’ in every one of the points examined by the report.”

“No scientific justification was found for the experiment, scientific background was lacking, the experiment’s design and execution did not suit its goals, and no result would have justified those goals. Also, conventional guidelines were not followed, risks and possible side effects were not thoroughly investigated, and a follow-up mechanism to keep track of participating soldiers was not set up.”

By stating so, the committee in fact reaffirms the claims made by several dozen soldiers, first made public on the Israeli channel two program Uvda (Fact). The soldiers, who claim that the experiment has brought upon life-threatening side effects, are now suing the IDF, with the assistance of attorneys Boaz Ben Tzur and Moshe Mazor, in a bid to obtain documents pertinent to the tests.

Israeli Physicians for Human Rights have also filed a lawsuit through attorney Michael Sfard.

As for the claims made by soldiers who testified in the committee, the report states that “the experiment’s results have yet to be summarized. However preliminary results show a side effect rate of a few dozen percent, most of which are considered both inconsequential and transient.”
