Lieberman NOT Welcome in Egypt

Well, never mind about Israel celebrating its “so called” agreement with Egypt. Egypt did not celebrate, and it now seems that Egyptians are none too happy about Israel’s new Zionist Racist Genocidal Government. Israel has already lost the support of Turkey, and I predict Egypt is not far behind.

Egyptian Islamists: Deny entry to ‘Zionist terrorist’ Lieberman

A key Egyptian opposition faction have submitted a bill to deny entry to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Hussein Ibrahim, the chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood, wrote in the proposal that Lieberman deliberately harms the continuity of the Egyptian people and government. He also called the far-right minister “a Zionist terrorist” and said his policies are “overly extreme.”

More than a hundred MPs, all of them from the opposition, endorsed the motion.

Ibrahim told an Egyptian Web site on Friday that the Egyptian government did stand up properly to the newly appointed Israeli foreign minister, and that it should have boycotted him a long time ago.

Egypt has threatened to boycott Lieberman unless he issues an official apology for past remarks, including telling Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to “go to hell.”

Last week, Egyptian ambassador to Israel Yasser Rida threatened to boycott the anniversary ceremony to protest Lieberman’s pending appointment.

Funny that Lieberman makes a referral to “Hell” a place he surely will be going himself, just where he belongs, along with all the other murdering scum who believe they have a right to kill innocent Palestinians. “Hell ” is going to be VERY crowded!

Israel & Palestine Peace Talks?

Not sure if this is accurate, but worth mentioning anyway.

The London-based Al Sharq Al Awsat (Middle East) newspaper reported Saturday that Israeli and Palestinian negotiators are set to resume peace talk by the end of this month.
The paper added that the new Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu of the Likud party, is planning to visit Cairo in preparation for the talks.

Yet, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Husam Zaki, said that he is unaware of the alleged preparations for Netanyahu’s visit to his country.

This report comes while the new Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, of the extremist Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) Party stated on Wednesday that Israel is not bound by its commitment to the 2007 Annapolis Conference in Maryland, USA.

Lieberman, one of the biggest advocated for settlement construction and expansion in the West Bank, said that Israel should not commit to the signed peace deals. MORE

Irish Aid for Gaza Seized by Egypt!!

Irish aid for Gaza seized in Egypt

Egyptian police have prevented four Irish containers with humanitarian aid from being delivered to Gaza. The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is “actively engaged with the Egyptian authorities” to try and resolve the situation.

The four containers are part of a consignment of aid from Ireland, Britain and France which has been held up at the Egyptian port of Alexandria. The containers were filled by the Galway Palestine Children’s Appeal and the Cork Palestine Children’s Authority almost two months ago, following a public appeal.

Hamas & Israel Talking Again on Prisoner Swap

Israeli-Palestinian Prisoner Swap Back on the Table

This just in from Haaretz:

Hamas resumed indirect negotiations with Israel aimed at exchanging abducted Israel Defense Force soldier Gilad Shalit for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners currently held in Israeli jails, Hamas official Ali Barakeh said Wednesday.

Shalit was kidnapped by Gaza militants in a cross-border raid in June, 2006. Efforts to secure his release in a prisoner exchange with Hamas have so far yielded no results.

Barakeh said that a delegation from Hamas is in Cairo to pursue a deal.

Also, Palestinian sources reported that Egytian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman had sent an envoy to Israel, and that he had spent the last two days here. The sources said that the Egyptian official was sent to Israel in order to revive talks geared at securing Shalit’s release.

Egyptians sources have clarified that efforts to secure a prisoner exchange agreement have resumed and will continue in the following days until a deal is reached.

Israeli officials sounded similar comments on Wednesday.

It appears that now, both sides will focus solely on completing the deal before the end of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s term and the swearing in of the new government, led by Likud Chairman Benjamin Netnayahu. However, it is not clear whether the gaps between the two sides can be bridged within this time frame. It is also unclear whether Hamas has handed Israel a revised prisoner list.

DURBAN II- Conference “Racism? What Racism??”

Durban the Censored
Not much of a World Conference on Racism, as all the racist offenders can’t be talked about.

Text on Israel cut from UN racism draft

GENEVA (AFP) — References to the Palestinian territories — that led Western countries deeming them anti-semitic to threaten a boycott of a UN racism conference — have been cut from the meeting’s draft declaration.

Passages relating to so-called defamation of religion were also dropped. The text on this subject had been included after Islamic countries lobbied for them following a 2005 furore over Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed. (clearly racist)

The European Union on Monday threatened to pull out of the Durban review conference, due to take place in Geneva from April 20 to 24, unless there were changes.
Britain had also said it would not attend unless the draft showed a “change in direction,” while Canada, Israel, Italy and the United States had already said they would stay away.

The revised and drastically shortened proposal, obtained by AFP, also dropped a passage on reparations for slavery, which African countries had been seeking, and did not include a Western proposal about discrimination against homosexuals.
The EU presidency earlier cited at least five offending paragraphs on the situation in the Palestinian territories, such as an assertion that “in order to consolidate the Israeli occupation, (Palestinians) have been subjected to unlawful collective punishment, torture.” (Can’t have any of that pesky truth seeping into the record now can we)

Similar rifts dogged the original World conference against racism, xenophobia and related intolerance in the South African city of Durban, which ended on September 7, 2001 with the adoption of a declaration and plan of action.

Israeli and US delegates walked out of that conference in protest against a bid by Arab nations to adopt a resolution that equated Zionism with racism. It was not included in the final declaration.

Israel Shunned by Everyone Important in Washington

Ever feel like you’re being shunned? Ever feel like you are invisible? Ever feel like you weren’t told about the secret handshake? Ever feel like you weren’t invited to the party?

Well that’s exactly what Israel’s Chief of Staff feels like after coming to America. It looks like the bloom is off the rose for Israel, it’s about time. Obama may actually earn my respect one day if he keeps putting Israel in it’s place, e.g. out of American politics.

Here ya go, well worth a read, and try not to laugh too hard:)

Israel’s visiting chief of staff finds doors closed
in Obama’s Washington

WASHINGTON — Last year, Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi had no problem setting up meetings with top officials in the U.S. government.

On his current trip to Washington, Ashkenazi sought to meet the administration of President Barack Obama, but most officials were unavailable.

Diplomatic sources said Ashkenazi failed to obtain access to any Cabinet member, including Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The Israeli military chief, who sought to discuss the Iranian nuclear threat, won’t even meet his counterpart, Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The administration is sending a very clear message to Israel, and this is we want to talk about Palestine and not Iran,” a diplomat who has been following U.S.-Israel relations said.

On March 12, Ashkenazi left for a five-day visit to the United States meant to lobby the Obama administration to abandon the planned U.S. dialogue with Iran. Ashkenazi, scheduled to meet with the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, (AIPAC the cancer in American Politics!!!!)was expected to have brought new Israeli intelligence on Iran’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

But the diplomatic sources said the administration made it clear that nobody in a policy-making position was available to sit with Ashkenazi. (are you laughing yet???) This included the president, Vice President Joseph Biden, Gates, National Intelligence director Dennis Blair or Mullen.

“The Obama administration believes that Israel is as much or more of a problem as it is an ally, at least until Israel’s disagreements with its neighbors are resolved,” former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, said.
Bolton envisioned that the White House would pressure Israel
to legitimize Hamas and Hizbullah. At the same time, he said, Obama would continue to woo Iran.

Already, economic and diplomatic advisers to Obama have urged the president to launch a U.S. dialogue with Hamas. The US/Middle East Project, which includes such Obama supporters as former Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Hagel, was said to have elicited a promise from Obama to listen to any proposals made by Hamas.

The diplomatic sources said the White House and the senior echelon of the Obama administration have refused a dialogue with Israel on the Iranian threat. (THANK GOD FOR THAT!!) They said Ms. Clinton, during her visit to Israel, was largely silent during briefings by Israeli intelligence on Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

“The Israeli government and military have been alarmed by the rapid and dramatic reversal in the U.S. policy toward Iran,” the source said. “This reversal took place without any consultation with Israel, Gulf Arab countries or even Congress.” (Ok you must be laughing by now, Imagine, how dare the USA makes it’s own decisions and policy!! Without “informing Israel and getting permission. Perhaps AIPAC should have left Freeman alone, payback is a bitch!)

But Obama and his top aides appear uninterested in hearing Israel’s position. The sources said a key aim of Ashkenazi was to urge the administration to release weapons and systems long sought by Israel in the area of aerial refueling, air-to-ground weapons, sensors as well as the F-22 fighter-jet.

“Ashkenazi sees this U.S. refusal as what has been undermining Israeli deterrence toward Iran and boosting the confidence of the Teheran regime,” the source said. “The mullahs in regime have concluded that America has dropped the military option and won’t allow such an option to Israel.” (HASBARA anyone???)

Egypt Pushes US to Deal With Hamas

You cannot exclude the democratically elected officials of the Palestinian people, and that means HAMAS. They have a electoral mandate and have every right to be included in any negotiations.

From the BBC:

Egypt seeks softer US Hamas line

Egypt’s intelligence chief is visiting Washington in what officials say is a push for a more flexible US stance on Hamas, to aid Palestinian unity talks.

An unnamed US official told AFP news agency that Mr Suleiman had met US Middle East envoy George Mitchell on Tuesday and might meet Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday.

Egyptian and Palestinian officials told AP news agency that Egypt is suggesting the US would accept a commitment from Hamas to “respect” existing Palestinian agreements with Israel, rather than “commit” to them.

Hamas’s charter calls for the destruction of Israel, although the group has also offered a long-term truce if Israel withdraws to its pre-5 June 1967 borders.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit is currently in Brussels for talks with officials including European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

A previous unity agreement fell apart after Israel and its international backers refused to deal with Hamas.
